Transformative Practice and Reflective Learning
What is Reflective Learning?
A strong practice is not only build on knowledge, it’s built on the ability to notice, consider, reflect and respond thoughtfully within real situations.
It creates a space where that thinking develops. It’s about
thinking more deeply about practice which becomes more meaningful when one recognises it themselves.
Supporting this journey through individual discussions and
exploring ways of working, I invite professionals to reflect on their own thinking that shapes their practice
This is a professional learning space for child health professionals who want to deepen their understanding of their practice.
Through reflection, we consider the thinking, experiences and values that shape the way we work with families, by exploring ones own practice through guided reflective learning. This will strengthen your professional insight, voice and confidence.
Reflective learning in this space does not include clinical supervision, instead it focuses on developing awareness of thinking, experience and perspective that shape professional practice.
Clinical supervision often focuses on case discussions and clinical decision making. Whereas, reflective learning focuses on developing professional insight, awareness and your voice within practice.
The details:
This space is guided by the four principles of Notice, Consider, Reflect and Respond.
Using these principles keeps the focus and commitment on professional learning.by
integrating what we know into our practice.
What the program includes:
- Guided reflective learning modules
- Reflective exercises and prompts
- Opportunities to explore reflective learning
- Resources to support ongoing reflective practice.
What will I get out of it?
- You will gain a greater insight into your professional thinking
and identity. - You will gain confidence in expressing your professional
voice. - You will gain skills to help you engage in meaningful
practice. - Gain a deeper awareness of the relational moments that shape child health practice.
- You will gain the ability to connect knowledge and self awareness in everyday work.
How does the program work?
The program is built around reflective exploration, rather than traditional instruction. Using a Notice → Consider → Reflect → Respond approach, you will be engaged with reflective prompts and given guided questions that encourage deeper thinking.
The learning process encourages curiosity, openness and thoughtful exploration of the perspectives that shape professional practice.
